wish I had more time to respond — but bottom line: I think it depends on your general view of how retail investors (non-accredited investors) should be treated.

Solution 1: don’t let them invest in this stuff or private companies

Solution 2: let them at their own risk (JOBS act stuff)

Solution 3: make platforms reveal xyz amount of info if they want to accept all investors

But: I think it’s important to not overly concern ourselves with P2P platforms, I think most alt lending platforms rely on institutional capital and it’ll probably stay that way and probably should. Stable capital base, sophisticated investors, lower cost of capital etc.

and those people can fend for themselves
